Abstract

This study examines the strategic analysis of the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FATIK) in improving the reading ability of the Al-Qur’an at FATIK students. The main problems discussed are (1). What is the general description of the ability to read Al-Qur’an of FATIK students? (2). What is the FATIK strategy in improving students reading ability in Al-Qur’an? (3). What are the obstacles of the FATIK strategy in improving the ability to read the Al-Qur’an of students? This research is classified as a type of qualitative research. Data collection methods used were observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques used include data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions / verification. Checking the validity of the data is done by triangulation techniques including source triangulation, technique triangulation, and time triangulation. The findings of this study show a general picture of the ability to read Al-Qur’an at FATIK students is not optimal with indicators of the ability to read the Al-Qur’an correctly based on the principles of recitation is still low. The FATIK strategy has not been able to optimally improve the ability to read Al-Qur’an of students. The indicator is the absence of lecturer synergy in improving the ability to read the Al-Qur’an of students, the FATIK strategy in improving the ability to read the Al-Qur’an is still incidental.
