IMPLEMENTASI VOCABULARY LEARNING STRATEGY UNTUK MEMBANTU GURU BAHASA INGGRIS DALAM MENINGKATKAN PEMAHAMAN SISWA TERHADAP TEKS BERBAHASA INGGRIS DI SMP MUHAMMADIYAH 6 PADANG
Abstract
Mastering English skills is one of the main goals in learning English in junior or senior high school. In this case, the ability of using vocabularies based on the correct context is very necessary to support English language skills such as writing and speaking. Unfortunately, not all students at SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Padang have high motivation to practice the activities given by the teacher due to their limited vocabulary so that when they are asked to perform speaking, reading or writing assignments only a few students are able to understand the text of the subject matter. When discussing with the community service team, teachers convey their desire to apply various strategies or methods to overcome the problems faced by these students. Therefore, the community service team from the English language education study program at Universitas PGRI Sumatera Barat, provided guidance and counseling to English teachers about the use and benefits of vocabulary Strategies. The target of change that is expected in this program that the teachers enable to design the vocabulary learning by using the strategies provided by the community service team which are integrated with the use of IT such as YouTube, videos or movies.
